About Nova Scotia
A
Province located in south east Canada, it has a beautiful
hilly countryside, fresh air, a natural environment, and
many forest and water ways. It has huge open spaces, very
little traffic, kind people, a balanced life style,
and a pleasant climate.
More than 1000 lakes, 300 rivers and an absolutely wonderful
coastline 7,500km long, ideal for fisherman and water sports
of every kind.
70% of the Province is wooded. In the untouched wilderness
you can find a rich animal kingdom: moose, black bears,
dears, wildcats, minks, beavers, bald eagles, wild goose,
humming birds etc.
Population density of 15 people per square Km
The people are noticeable friendly, hospitable and very
helpful. Here calmness has a positive feed back on foreign
people.
Nova Scotia is a stable, democratic land like its neighbor
the U.S.A., but without crime and social problems.
It is a very safe land, very secure for houses and cars,
they are always open and not locked.
To purchase land and houses is simple and safe. Foreign
people are treated in the same way as permanent residents.
Properties are registered (warren deed).
The following cost are added: property purchase tax between
0 and 1.5% (different in each county). At the ART’insula
1.05%. Notary/Lawyer cost are $850 CA up to 1% from the
purchase amount plus 15% HST (Harmonized Sales Tax).
The annual costs for houses and land are between ¼ - ½% of
the property value (different in each county), this tax
includes weekly waste management, road service, snow
service, fire prevention service and other municipal service
costs.
Building permits for houses are easy to get.
Hunting is allowed from November until February. Each person
can hunt up to two dears per season (Nov.). Moose and bear
hunting is possible under special rules. Small game and wild
goose are unlimited!
For the fisherman Nova Scotia is a paradise. From the wharf
or boat you can catch mackerel, salmon, trout, cod, tuna,
perch, etc. In inland waters a permit is necessary.
For people who like the water, Nova Scotia is a paradise
too. All sailing and motorboat sports are welcome. Many
bays, harbors and Islands invite you to explore.
